I'm drinking coffee. I never drink coffee. But I've got so much work to do and I am so tired, but this song by fellow Norwegian Nils just gave me kick and I thought it might give you a kick too. I love his voice and Norwegian accent, and it makes my head bump from left to right, and my shoulders rotate around as if I they were wheels on a bike rolling down the street a summer day.
Here are some pictures I took at the Candy Magazine shoot, where I was features together with all the other fabulous boys in Lily Allen's vintage dresses and all the other pieces that led to frolics and amazing fun. The shoot was inspired by a 1960's cross dressing community in America, Casa Susanna (read more about it here), which documents from has been published as a very entertaining and warming book.
Candy is Luis Venegas' (below with Jeantte) newest project. Exploring transvestism and celebrating people expressing gender outside the norm. It is a fashion magazine, but also an important document of today, as was the iconic image of the dying Candy Darling (which ofcourse this magazine is named after), and I am very happy to be a part of it. It is sold out world wide, but if you want to have a look I know it is all over the web (this specific shoot was shot by Brett Lloyd and styled by Kim Jones). Luke Worral was also featured in some american talk show where they were like " Kelly Osbournes' boyfriend... is a drag queen!!". Hilarious!
So happy 2010 and cheers to a new decade full of fun, love and hopefully more understanding in the world. More people should put on a vintage dress and party like it was 1969!
Its 2010! and looking back, here are some of the songs from 2009 that still gets me ecstatic:
1. Kasper Bjorke: Young Again
I was lying wasted and hollow in bed one early and cold morning listening to this on repeat, when I realised just how good it is..
Young Again makes my heart pound, pound & pound every time I hear it. Mighty!
2. Hunx & His Punx: Cruising
Hunx from Gravy Train!!!! have gone more or less solo and entertains me as much as I entertain myself dancing at home to this. Non-stop fun DIY pop with trashy keyboards and dirty references. Hunx makes me love the fact that I'm a boy!!
3. Fever Ray: Concrete Walls
Karin Drejer (and her brother) is probably some of the best musicians in the last decade.
Concrete Walls is 'sub-urban' & haunting, and hugely comforting. I can die to this song.
4. The XX: Teardrops
My friend Romy from the XX really surprised me when she sent over some of The XX's songs in early 2009. This totally fantastic cover with haunting guitars ala The Organ are just begging to be played out loud . To no surprise they have been growing huge since the release of their debut album this summer.
5. S.C.U.M.: Signal 2 'Berlin'
S.C.U.M. Great name, all very young.. moderately 'hyped' and with a very hot singer who loves the stage. I can't wait to see more of this band! What can I say..? Its just fucking sexy.
