Just got back from assisting Marius Hansen, who did the 'Hero' shoot for this issue of i-D today. We did a very amusing portrait of the founder of Blueprint Magazine - where he was on his bike, on top of the miniature model of London at the New London Architecture (NLA)/the Building Centre. I really like Marius' open and quirky approach to his subjects. Funnily enough, I met him when I was the subject myself for a Norwegian newspaper supplement.

As for tomorrow, it's my night again, COLLAPSING NEW PEOPLE. BLACK PETER GROUP (NYC) are performing live with the fabulous Thalia Devine (Issue) & Poppy Cock. Gio BlackPeter is featured both in Slava Mogutin's new book AND is playing in Bruce La Bruce's new zombie movie "OTTO: Or Up With The Dead". His shows are one of those legendary energetic ones which I advise you all too see if you are in London, as he is going back to NYC after this. I also have PER QX (GutterSlut!/Images), Monsieur (AYCE) & Alistair Allen, the photographer behind DirtyDirtyDancing.com is putting his music gloves on with a DJ set.

All hustlers, trannies, fashion office rats, clubland exhibitionists, curios kids, architecures, photographers and ICONS are welcome down from 8.30 - 2 @ The Macbeth (both floors) 70 Hoxton St.

Behind the scenes - ConeZone wigs

Here is hairdresser Charlie Le Mindu and Tomi Hiro fixing the ConeZone wigs for our SuperSuper Shoot.

I was out at east London, no, London's craziest karaoke night yesterday.. Where else can you get Peaches singing love ballads, boys curling up on a blinking 70's disco-floor and gender benders with purple umbrellas spinning around dancing with blonde bombshells and occasional chavs in one big harmony? Well at Sing-A-Long you can. I wasn't sure in the beginning of this whole idea, as I dont really like karakoke much due to my uncles' schreiking singing to chinese pop songs at home when I was young.. But the night hosted by Princess Julia, Cozette and mr. Mortimer is really turning into something quite special - and I a looking forward to the next one where I will do my first ever public karaoke & dance performance with my 3 flatmates.. Not to miss!

ROLLED UP

Yesterday I went to Laura's birthday at Shoreditch House, which is the woman behind Gloved Up, the gloves Anna Piaggi is a big fan of. Me and and Thomas gave her a NARS Manhunt lipstick, which she put on trough the night saying that 'Its amazing, it changed my life!' as she was rolling around on the dancefloor. Nothing is like a bit of red on a happy girl's lips. I didnt take many pictures, but here is Laura's Heatherette rollers (which she funnily rolled arond dancing from guest to guest - a very good mingling tool) and Fred Butler and Maki.

Saturday, April 12, 2008

I havent been playing out much lately expet for my own night, I think last time was x-mas Foreign (Bar Music Hall) , as I have been doing other stuff and dont really have time to keep my songs and all that up to date. You know how it is when you are in the darkroom all alone... But never the less I am doing a week of music now, with Nuke Them All (Images) on the 19th, Across The Pond (Electricity Showrooms) on the 20th and COLLAPSING NEW PEOPLE (Macbeth) on the 26th. After that I will be buried in work for my final resolution on my BA course for a while... I fear posting might get bad again...

WHO'S THAT GIRL?

I am listening to the new ROBYN track 'Who's that girl?" and just wanna put on some red lippy, bleach my hair and go out walkin the street with a bottle of bubbly in my hand. And I think I will soon, when the weather gets slightly better... Olof and Karin Drejer from The Knife was in on this track too and I suspect this will be a huge spring hit... I've seen The Knife two times, both outside (in a forest and by a lake) and it is the best concert experiences I've had. The sound quality on the YouTube clip is very bad though, so I suggest you buy the single. Or download it. Whatever fits your wallet..

ACROSS THE POND

I am playing at a new concept in London, focusing on Scandinavian music, with Bård Aasen Lødemel aka Skatebård, "one of the best artists on the scene of retro electro in Scandinavia, with three EP’s released this spring alone, on three different labels.
He is a trustworthy source of new suave tunes for the fans of quirky cool electro and now the audience is widening. Cruising into the blog-sphere with neon pine flamboyance, is his latest single ‘Love Attack’ and its gaining a lot of attention. A remake from last year’s album, it now features Annie in an “icy disco duet” which can be heard in clubs around the world and on the play lists of the most influential sites for zeitgeisty music."

I am also accompanied by the beautiful SIRI, who have the boldest blonde curls in town, at the decks on this night. So get a nice little outfit on and get down to Hoxton both on the 20th and as well to my own night on the 26th at the Macbeth.

Congratulations Petros!

My flatmate and fellow student Petros Efstathiadis just got selected as the new member of the POC photography network of contemporary images (www.pocproject.com); which was founded by Charles Freger. He is using humour and has a strong cinematic eye which he brings together with awkward subjects that somehow seems to exist slightly outside of our own world.

Though he is working pretty much solely in an art context I think it would be great to see a fashion shoot by him and hope someone else will pick up on it too as it is quite different from much of the work which is out now. I was in a bookshop earlier on today and I just couldnt buy any magazines, as there were so many shoots that are more or less all the same. So for me art photographers are definatley more interesting at the moment. But I have to mention, I am in a photograhpic, and slightly exestential crisis where I am getting tired of very much of the thing I used to like. Yesterday night however, I dicovered a blog by another young photographer; Shane Lavalette, where he is posting very good entries about contemporary photography and ideas around the subject; so I suggest you have a look at www.shanelavalette.com/journal if you are interested in what is going on on the western photography scene.
